MediClear: 32.45 ozs. The MediClear Program: The MediClear program is an easy-to-implement, affordable 3-week protocol that emphasizes healthful, hypo-allergenic dietary changes coupled with supplementation including MediClear. This approach delivers a nutrient-dense diet with extra cofactors that are necessary for optimal liver detoxification. The MediClear program is designed to be implemented incrementally, to gradually move your patients into and out of the program. During Week 1, the patient is eased into the protocol while consuming a diet that is less antigenic and less dependent on animal-based protein. During Week 2, the MediClear dose is increased. All animal-based protein is excluded to allow more cleansing to take place. The Week 3 diet is the same as Week 1, allowing the patient to re-introduce animal proteins (if desired) and reduce the reliance on MediClear. Unlike other programs, this protocol is not meant to be rigid; instead, it has been designed to be flexible, according to patient and practitioner needs. The program can be shortened or extended as needed, the MediClear dosage can be changed, and other supplementation can be added to the protocol. Extra Nutrients and Botanicals: Catechins (from green tea extract) are included to promote proper hepatic Phase I detoxification and as a potent antioxidant. Glutathione and N-acetylcysteine are added for their antioxidant activity and to support hepatic Phase II detoxification. The amino acids glycine and taurine, and the amino acid derivative trimethylglycine, are also included for their supportive role in Phase II detoxification, along with the sulfur-containing compound MSM. L-glutamine supports proper intestinal health. Quercetin chalcone is included for its antioxidant activity and mast cell-stabilizing action. Our stable probiotic, Lactobacillus sporogenes, helps balance the normal intestinal flora. See label copy for a complete listing of ingredients. The Difference: MediClear is different than most similar beverage mixes. MediClear contains more protein, fewer carbohydrates, more accessory detox cofactors, special nutrients and a probiotic for gut health, and is more affordable than other detox formulas.

Meriva-SR: 120 capsules. Meriva-SR is a unique, patented time-release curcumin product available exclusively from Thorne Research. People throughout Asia have benefited from the healthful effects of curcumin for centuries. Curcumin is the orange pigment in turmeric (the primary ingredient in curry), and is a potent antioxidant that offers numerous health benefits, including supporting joint health and cardiovascular function, and helping to maintain the body's normal inflammatory response. Whether taken as a supplement or from food, curcumin is generally poorly absorbed into the bloodstream. In conjunction with Indena S.p.A., the worldwide experts in botanical extract technology, we have uncovered the key to curcumin absorption - phytosome technology. Meriva Curcumin Phytosome is a unique curcumin extract that is significantly better absorbed than other curcumin extracts. Phytosomes are plant extracts bound to phosphatidylcholine (PC), an essential component of human cells. Our bodies can make PC, but we can also get it from food or supplements. When taken orally, PC is very well absorbed. The scientists at Indena found a way to attach a curcumin extract to PC for superior absorption, resulting in Meriva. When you take Meriva your body absorbs the PC and the attached curcumin, resulting in more curcumin reaching the cells that can benefit from it. A 2007 study published in the journal, Cancer Chemotherapy and Pharmacology, demonstrated Meriva's superior bioavailability compared to ordinary curcumin. This animal study indicated a significantly greater plasma concentration time curve, with an area under the curve (AUC) five times higher for Meriva. Liver levels of curcumin were also higher with Meriva supplementation. A recent human study (not yet published) demonstrated even greater bioavailability. Meriva supplementation resulted in significantly better absorption, with better plasma concentrations of curcumin from a much smaller dose than with ordinary curcumin. Several studies have illustrated curcumin's hepatoprotective effects, leading researchers to suggest its use in protecting the liver from exogenous insults from environmental toxins, such as acetaminophen and carbon tetrachloride. Curcumin also has the capacity to increase both the flow and solubility of bile. Curcumin's hepatoprotective effects are due in part to direct free-radical scavenging; but curcumin also enhances the body's natural antioxidant system, which increases glutathione levels, thereby aiding in hepatic detoxification and inhibiting nitrosamine formation.

Betaine HCL & Pepsin: 625 capsules. Hydrochloric acid secretion assists protein digestion by activating pepsinogen to pepsin, renders the stomach sterile against orally-ingested pathogens, prevents bacterial or fungal overgrowth in the small intestine, and encourages the flow of bile and pancreatic enzymes. Hydrochloric acid also facilitates the absorption of a number of nutrients, including folate, vitamin B12, ascorbic acid, beta-carotene, non-heme iron, and some forms of calcium, magnesium, and zinc. Numerous studies have shown acid secretion declines with advancing age. Impaired HCl production and secretion are also associated with a number of clinical conditions, requiring long-term supplementation. Hypochlorhydria and achlorhydria are conditions in which the production of hydrochloric acid in the digestive juices of the stomach is low or absent, respectively. Overuse of antacids can lead to hypochlorhydria (low stomach acid), which can result in poor protein digestion and the potential for development of allergies. Thorne offers HCl (hydrochloric acid) and pure pepsin from a porcine source. Unlike many supplement companies, the pepsin utilized in Thorne’s product is pure, undiluted, and lactose-free.

Herbal Laxative: 90 capsules. Gentle, effective laxative. When dietary changes, increased water consumption, and fiber are not enough, Herbal Laxative can be used as an effective but gentle bowel stimulant for occasional (but not chronic) constipation. It contains herbs with laxative-like properties, including Cascara, rhubarb, and senna. Herbal Laxative should not be used when an individual has abdominal pain or diarrhea, and it is not intended for long-term use. Rheum (Chinese rhubarb) demonstrates both laxative and antispasmodic effects. Cascara sagrada is an intestinal laxative and also tonifies the liver and gall bladder. Senna is one of the most well-established herbal laxatives; its purgative qualities are believed to be due to its anthraquinone content. The traditional uses for both blue flag (Iris versicolor) and Rhamnus frangula include occasional constipation and liver support.

Medibulk: 8 ozs. powder. Important soluble fiber for a healthy GI tract. Colonic bacteria utilize soluble fiber and other undigested carbohydrates as food, and subsequently create short-chain fatty acids, which are used by the colonic mucosal cells as fuel. In turn, the short-chain fatty acids liberated by these bacteria can lower colonic pH and shorten transit time in the intestines, which enhances detoxification and reduces the toxic burden on the liver. Medibulk contains psyllium, pectin, and prune powder as sources of soluble fiber. Anaerobic fermentation of the soluble non-starch polysaccharides in psyllium results in the production of important short-chain fatty acids in the intestines. One of these fatty acids, butyric acid, is the preferred fuel for colonocytes (mucosal cells of the colon) and provides important support for a healthy colon. In one study, subjects supplemented with 20 grams of psyllium seed daily for three months exhibited an average increase of butyric acid production of 42 percent, which decreased to pretreatment levels within two months of cessation of supplementation. Soluble fiber also has a positive impact in supporting the metabolism of cholesterol and maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. Other indications for supplementing with Medibulk include occasional constipation or diarrhea, the need for colon detoxification, soothing of hemorrhoids, appetite control, and support of colon health. Prior to embarking on a detoxification program, it is important to achieve optimal bowel function. Medibulk can speed transit time in the bowel and bind toxins that have been released into the intestines from the liver, preventing their reabsorption. Begin with 1/2 scoop in 8 ounces of pure water or dilute fruit juice per night and slowly build up to 2-3 scoops. Follow with at least 8 ounces of pure water.

Dipan-9: 60 capsules. Pancreatin is a mixture of several digestive enzymes produced by cells in the pancreas. Pancreatin is composed of amylase, lipase, and protease. Pancreatin production and secretion by the pancreas is essential to digestion and absorption of numerous nutrients, especially fats. Indigestion affects millions of people every day. For some, eating fatty foods can bring on heartburn. For others, simple carbohydrates (like bread and pasta) may cause gas and bloating. And for other individuals, spicy foods can cause them grief. Although what we eat greatly influences the frequency and severity of indigestion, this discomfort could be related to an underlying problem – poor digestive enzyme activity. Situations such as illness, gall bladder removal, overuse of antacids, and aging can contribute to insufficient secretion of stomach acid, pancreatic enzymes, and bile, and can adversely affect digestive enzyme activity and lead to heartburn, gas, bloating, and other forms of gastrointestinal discomfort. Equally important in taking the right digestive enzyme product is assuring the quality of the digestive enzymes you take. For example, lactose intolerance – due to a deficiency of the enzyme lactase – is a frequent reason for prescribing a digestive enzyme support product. Yet many of the digestive enzymes on the market (pancreatin, pepsin, papain, and bromelain) are actually diluted with hidden lactose! Why? Because lactose is used as a means of diluting the potency of a digestive enzyme to meet a given specification. The U.S. Pharmacopeia calls for pepsin and pancreatin to have a specified digestive power. Anything greater than the specified U.S. Pharmacopeia requirement is listed on the label as 2X, 3X, etc. – meaning the product has two or three times the specified digestive power. Pure, raw pancreatin typically has a 9X digestive power. In other words, 9X means the pancreatin is undiluted. Anything less than 9X is diluted, often with lactose. And both prescription and non-prescription digestive enzyme products might contain lactose. Thorne Research's digestive enzyme products are hypoallergenic and do not contain lactose – they never have. Thorne's pure pancreatin is a lactose-free product and has the highest potency and purity possible. Thorne uses only pure, undiluted pancreatin.
